Breaching another milestone, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) received the prestigious GreenCo Platinum Plus rating by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), becoming the first and only automobile company to achieve the coveted rating.

The manufacturing plant in Narsapura (Karnataka) is recognized with the rating for its sustainable environment excellence. Honda’s Narsapura plant reduced its CO2 emissions by 20534 tons and saved 19401 KL water per annum by the process of recycling and reuse. The manufacturing plant has also saved around 9458 MWh of electricity and 906 tons of propane per year. The Narsapura plant meets 100% of its water requirement through rainwater collection and utilization. The factory also meets 94% of its energy requirement from Renewable energy sources.

Not only in India, but Honda’s production facilities across the world also pursue energy-efficient methods actively and prevent water pollution by reducing industrial waste.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “Honda 2Wheelers India is committed towards sustainable initiatives, green technology and aims for “zero environmental impact”. Narsapura plant was the first Honda 2Wheelers India factory to be Platinum rated through the GreenCo rating system in 2018. The plant has also demonstrated outstanding performance among other Green factories and has been awarded with GreenCo Star Performer Awards in 2019 and 2020. Currently, Honda 2Wheelers India has become the fastest company to elevate from Platinum to Platinum Plus.

Besides the Narsapura plant, Honda 2Wheelers India’s other manufacturing facilities located in Manesar (Haryana), Tapukara (Rajasthan) and Vithalapur (Gujarat) have also taken proactive initiatives to integrate environmental best practices and have been awarded with prestigious awards by renowned organisations.
