WayCool, India’s leading food and agritech company, received ISO 22000:2018 (FSMS) certification from TUV SUD South Asia Private Limited, a reputed Certification Body who Audited and certified our Food Safety Management Systems are in accordance with ISO 22000:2018 Standards for its Fresh Produce processing unit based in Chennai. This is the first externally validated measurement of the company’s culture of continual improvement and commitment towards Food Safety. WayCool procures fresh produce from farmers through its robust network of collection centres and delivers quality products to industries such as e-commerce platforms, food services and big retail chains.

This rare milestone is attributed to WayCool’s constant endeavour to improve employees’ competence skills through regular training, implementing good warehouse practices, and driving the company’s food safety management systems on the back of advanced tech interventions. Certification Body TUV SUD South Asia Private Limited  conducted a two-stage audit at the WayCool’s Virugambakkam Distribution Centre for processing (Sorting and Grading) and packing of whole fruit and Vegetables. With the successful completion of the audit, WayCool’s Chennai distribution centre is now among a few companies with ISO certification.

“This certification is a great motivational booster for the team who has put tremendous effort and adopted a food safety culture in the organization. It also confirms our best in class food safety and management system and ensures safer food and better health for its consumers. This journey is unstoppable, and we will continue to improve the food safety management systems across our Distribution centres, thereby setting up a very high benchmark in quality and food safety  management in this financial year 2022-23. Our next goal is to achieve GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) recognized certification for business units to keep customers delighted with safer food and top-quality food products”, said Amrit Bajpai, COO – WayCool Foods.

While the fight for food security is real, it is equally essential to ensure that the world consumes safer food for better health and well-being. According to WHO, unsafe food causes 600 million cases of food borne diseases worldwide and 4,20,000 deaths, of which 30% of deaths occur among children under five years of age. These facts indicate that both present and future generations are at risk with unsafe food, and transforming the existing food safety systems is the need of the hour. And WayCool is precisely doing this.

Since its inception, WayCool has successfully taken numerous green initiatives across its facilities. These include installing solar energy systems, water security interventions, regenerative agricultural practices, and electrification of last-mile delivery, among others. This prestigious milestone will help the company bolster their efforts and launch more green initiatives to make the food economy more streamlined and sustainable at every point possible.
